It’s Been Nine Months and I Still Spit in the Shower

I realize that to many of you, this makes zero sense. Let me back up.

It goes without saying that you can’t drink the tap water in Mexico. People buy bottled water and use that for drinking and cooking, and only use the tap water for washing, etc. That includes showering. Well I don’t know about you, but water gets in my mouth when I shower.

Therefore, shower = much spitting.

I’ve tried to compute how many showers I took while living there, and while I sometimes bathed three or four times a day in the summer months, there were also those days we had no running water, so it probably averages to twice a day. Times 365 days, times three years.

*pulls up calculator*

2190 showers. Wow.

I’d say that’s more than enough time to build up a habit, especially when it’s the difference between going about your day as normal and… uh… living in the bathroom.

Since returning to the US I’ve bathed an average of once per day (possibly less but we won’t go there) so that equals…

*again with the calculator, I’m a bit sleep-deprived this week*

Roughly 275 showers.

I guess I have a long ways to go before I keep my saliva to myself.

Any weird habits you’d like to share?

  1. Water gets in my mouth too but then I’m 4’11”. I don’t know if it’s a habit but when I start to laugh really hard I hiccup.

    I love the new blog.
