Going on Hiatus

I’ve thought about this for a while, and I’ve decided to step back from blogging for the time being. The things in my life right now don’t make for interesting posts—you could say I left my fodder south of the border—so I’m taking a time out.

As a whole, I’ve noticed people seem to be blogging less these days, but it’s the fact that I haven’t been able to reciprocate that makes this seem futile. I can’t expect people to keep up with my ramblings when I can’t keep up with theirs, you know?

So… I’ll still post when there’s something to write about, and even though it’s been drilled into my head that not keeping a schedule is the quickest way to lose readers, I’d rather post something because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to.

With that, have a happy new year, and best wishes for 2012!

Funny you should write this now. I had to make a point to go to my blog to go to some people’s blogs. My reader has been wonky for months & unless I see the posts on facebook – I don’t see the blog post & I haven’t been on facebook much lately let alone try to catch up with posts. I haven’t been big on blogging lately either. I really need to remedy that but like you said – we need more interesting stuff happening. I say we need a winter get-away for starters!

    • Thanks Beverly. I’ve certainly reduced the number of days per week that I blog over the years, but when things in my life are just trucking along it doesn’t make for good blog posts. Except fit my toaster oven incident yesterday, but I’ll save that for another day. 😉

Melanie, there are people who like reading about the mundane and slow paced life. But I can fully understand the need for a break. You blog, write with the Erma’s, and have a real life. A blog should be a place to relax and have fun writing for the sake of writing. If it is labored, then a break is needed. Blog when you see a need. We’ll still be here. Just advertise on Facebook. and, Thanks for all the years of stories.

Yikes! I fixed up my reader too late! I’m with the others, I’ve enjoyed all your journeys thus far, and when you feel the need to post something, I’ll be here to read it. 🙂

  4. I feel the same way! My solution is to only blog intermittently when I feel like it. Blogs should be fun, not pressure filled! (I was feeling the blog production pressure.)
