Chasing the Moon Reviews

testimonial icon_purple“Can the bonds between friends withstand the upcoming trials and will love flourish under the moon and stars?

Chasing the Moon by Melanie Hooyenga is such a beautiful story and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute reading it. It is rare to find books that depict such healthy relationships and dynamics between not only friends but family as well, and despite some issues, this is something very prominent in this book. Not only were the story and the characters good but the writing was magnificent. Hooyenga writes using such emotive and descriptive language that brings the world and characters to life, which ultimately makes for such an immersive story. I couldn’t help but become emotionally invested in Mel and Steph’s relationship and how it would impact the overall dynamic of their group. Regardless, I was rooting for them all the way and just hoping that things would work out for the best. All in all, Chasing the Moon is such a lovely and wholesome book to read and makes me regret not having read the previous books. Either way, this is an amazing book and I would highly recommend it.”

Their story is part adventure, part awakening, and part transformation. The plot is fun, engaging, and light. The author is an accomplished writer with a knack for reaching a young adult audience. While the story successfully engages the friends-to-lovers trope, the book’s true focus is on the dynamics of female friendship; the authenticity of the circumstances and characters leads to a memorable reading experience.
